Hi Lini, tell us a little about yourself!
I joined pacemaker.ai in March, so I’m still one of the newbies. Having completed my Master’s degree in Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation, I am focusing on the go-to-market strategy for our sustainability platform within the Business Development Team and it's been a very rewarding journey so far! On a personal note, I’ve had the chance to travel a lot from a young age and never really stopped. I lived in Brunei Darussalam as a child, earned my Bachelor's in Chinese in Beijing, and completed my Master’s studies in Lisbon and South Africa. Even though I love traveling, or maybe exactly because of that, I’m deeply motivated to make a positive impact through my work.
How did you find your way to pacemaker.ai, and what stood out to you?
Through LinkedIn, actually – so yes, it really works!😉 I was immediately drawn to pacemaker because of the combination of SaaS and sustainability. As well as that, during my Master’s program, I built an amateur no-code demand forecasting tool, so I was super excited to see something similar in action here. The cherry on top is that pacemaker.ai has an entity in Lisbon, which is where I’m now based. Since I love surfing, kitesurfing, and pretty much any kind of water sport, living by the ocean is a dream come true!
What was the application process like, and do you have any tips?
I went through a lot of application processes around that time, and the one at pacemaker.ai was definitely one of the most straightforward. Of course you need to bring your A-game, but the focus is really on personal fit, which I think is super important. My tip: just be yourself and stay genuine.
How would you describe the office vibes, and what do you enjoy about the work environment?
Since I work remotely, I haven’t spent much time in the office yet. But I really enjoy the monthly in-person team days, which always include time for some competitive Mario Kart games as well. Even from the distance, I felt very welcomed from day one. You can tell that everyone is highly motivated, supportive, and driven to move things forward. I’m already looking forward to our next off-site when the whole team visits Lisbon!
What does your typical workday look like?
That’s a tough one – I’m still figuring it out myself!😉 Jokes aside, no two days are the same, which makes the work really dynamic. In the Business Development team, we work on partnerships and strategic decisions related to market access, such as pricing models, geographic analyses, and target customer definitions. I especially enjoy acting as a bridge between different teams, which gives me the chance to get insights into all areas of the company.
What has been your most exciting project so far, or do you have a fun story about great teamwork?
In my very first week, I took part in an internal workshop that really showed me how much value is placed on open, collaborative discussions and decision-making on eye level. That first impression has only been confirmed since then.
How does the company support your personal growth?
I can speak openly about what I want to improve or explore, and my colleagues and managers actively help me grow in those areas. I also enjoy a lot of independence in my work, and my input is taken seriously and implemented into practice. It’s pretty amazing to be able to help shape the company’s strategy so directly.
What’s a hidden talent of yours that most people at work don’t know about?
I speak fluent Chinese.😊
What’s been your personal highlight so far?
Definitely spending quality time with colleagues in person. That’s especially meaningful when you work fully remotely.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining pacemaker.ai?
Be clear about what you want to achieve, and put all your motivation and passion into it. If you do that, there’s nothing holding you back!
