Essen/Luxembourg, January 9, 2025 – Pacemaker, a software company owned by thyssenkrupp, specializing in AI-based solutions for forecasting and emissions calculation in supply chains, announces the acquisition of the Luxembourg-based company WAVES. WAVES is the provider of the award-winning Sustainability Management Platform (SMP). The Software-as-a-Service solution, along with accompanying consulting services, offers comprehensive support for business customers in achieving their sustainability goals. It enables holistic sustainability management, precise emissions calculations for transport, and Scopes 1 to 3 of the Corporate Carbon Footprint. Additionally, it covers full ESG reporting in compliance with the CSRD, including the EU taxonomy.

The WAVES SMP expands pacemaker's sustainability solution and strengthens its leadership role in AI-driven sustainability software.
“With the merger of the WAVES SMP and pacemaker technology, we are creating a powerful all-in-one solution to address the demanding sustainability goals facing industries and SMEs. We are pleased to welcome the WAVES team to pacemaker and the thyssenkrupp family,” explains Christian Jabs, CEO of pacemaker, regarding the acquisition.

“I am very much looking forward to working with pacemaker to bring WAVES' vision even further and faster into the industry — embedding sustainability as a fundamental element of corporate action at all levels and throughout the supply chain,” adds Armin Neises, Founder and CEO of WAVES.

“With this acquisition, pacemaker enhances the future-readiness of its customers and makes a significant contribution to achieving global climate goals. As one of the world's leading materials distributors and service providers, sustainability and digital excellence are key pillars of our strategy at thyssenkrupp Materials Services,” says Patrick Marous, CEO of the Business Unit Solutions at thyssenkrupp Materials Services, which also includes pacemaker.

The acquisition comes at a strategic time as EU regulations such as the CSRD and EU taxonomy increasingly require companies to perform precise calculations and provide evidence of extensive sustainability aspects. Companies face the growing challenge of creating transparency about their sustainability performance throughout supply chains and improving it.
